best group i have had the honor of fishing with. can't wait for bam-4 although it is a long
drive from fresno, it will be well worth the drive. wish i could make del valle but it looks
like the store has other plans for me. maybe at the next one?

That is an awesome offer Mol...the beer this year sucked!!!  I ordered a keg of Boont Amber  :smt007, but as soon as I tapped it I could tell it was something else.  Called the store and they had mixed up the kegs and I was stuck with Miller light  :smt009 and then the tap broke!!!   :smt010 :smt010 :smt010

that keg situation was horrible. i hope they gave you your money back. when the new tap was hooked up, my friend lyle went over and got a cup. he said he had to spit it out. he's never spit out beer before in his whole life. said it went flat from everyone trying to tap it the night before. dont get me wrong, we had a great time and will definately be back next year.

Did the $50 entry fee help pay for the beer?  I was just going to say that I didn't want to complain about the beer because I didn't pay for it.  Either way, I had a good time.  It was cool meeting everyone.  Hopefully next year I will know a few people a little better and hang around the keg a little longer (especially if it is Sierra Nevada!).

Thanks to everyone for being so friendly to a stranger and bringing all of the delicious food.

I hope to have a keg of Harvest Ale and a keg of Pale for next year.

I HIGHLY advise all to get themselves a bottle (or case ;) ) of this years Harvest Ale (wet hop beer).  It is spectactular.

Hey Mol,
I want to brew a batch or two this winter. I'm sure there's many more out there, just wanted to ask if you've got any leads on a good starter kit or words of advice?

2 nights of camping, a tournament entry fee, and a donation to a good cause @ $50 bucks is the deal of the year

I appreciate you NOT complaining that you didn't like the free beer I didn't order.  We always have GOOD, local, micro-beer at my events, unfortunately Safeway had other plans, and I did get my money back.

I have brewed 3 batches, and all 3 turned out drinkable.  Drinkable is all, other than that, they had a funny taste.  Even though all 3 didn't turn out right, I have some advice: EVERYTHING HAS TO BE CLEAN AND SANITARY.  I tried to keep everything clean, but I might have still had some wild yeast somewhere.  Maybe I had a scratch in one of my plastic buckets that held bacteria or wild yeast.

If I was to buy a starter kit again, I would spend a little more and get the glass carboy instead of plastic buckets.  Here is a good website/store that has a lot of equipment and kits.  They have some good information on their site as well.  http://morebeer.com/

Maybe when I get my courage up, I will try a 4th batch.  I don't know if I could handle all of the work and waiting for a beer that disappoints again.  Maybe my fishing luck equals my brewing luck (2 or three outings in a row= no fish)

Good Luck, I hope I didn't discourage you from homebrewing.  I am sure it is not that hard, but I haven't had good luck.

J/K, Naoaki - you helped put a lot of people on fish that day!
No, all that credit on you, Champ!  I know you put a lot of time that lake to figure out..., so Thanks! :salut:

Looks like next year I will bring a couple of kegs and a jockey box w/ CO2.  I will consider it my mission to provide good drink for all.

As the time gets closer I will put up a poll for the brands to bring.

I will probably be able to bring brands that most of you haven't had before....
