Hi all,

I’m hoping to mount a 30ah battery inside the hull of my ‘24 outback. Does anyone have good recommendations for how to do this?

Industrial Velcro?  Is it a waterproof battery?

I use a waterproof case with good wire grommets, then no need to mount.

Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

I use a holder in the rear round hatch of my hobie to hang my 2 20ah batteries. I also use a distribution block (https://www.mariner-sails.com/new-distribution-hub-plug-play-wiring.html) that I can connect in other stuff that I can control using a remote.

What does that setup look like? Are you essentially anchoring the battery box to the mounting location provided?

I did something similar using a harbor freight plastic ammo box and a 2 pole SAE flange connector. I used the .30cal size box for a 12ah battery and have lots of room, but different size batteries would need a different box. I don't put it inside of my kayak tho - I bungee it to the front cargo platform. I can take a picture and probably find links to the connector if interested.

Have you picked your battery? Depending on the dimensions you could possibly fit it (in a waterproof box) in the hull under the seat or somewhere in the front hatch. I’ve done both. For the front hatch I had a battery mounted to the sail post, which I really liked and was very secure.

Yeah exactly... I just either zip tie it to something inside, or just lay the box somewhere where it cant move too much.

I would look at the new Newport Vessels battery.  those geniuses came up with a flat battery, that may or may not fit under the seat.

my battery is too big, to go into the hull.  I worried if I flipped I would have to fight that bulk.  I rather I just cut it loose and go for the life, versus battery.

Thanks all for the input. I decided to just put the battery behind my seat like most people seem to do.
