Well, up to this point, I've been very satisfied with the perfomance of this particular net. The last outing at the Hollow, I got ta 34 inch ling in the net....and this happened  :smt011 :smt013

The sad part is that I did not even LIFT the entire fish out of the water, the net was resting on my knee and on the yak when the ling went agro :kungfu....and broke the net.

Had Hook1 contact the promar people and see what they'll do about it......I hope it will be a positive reply...

Sorry to hear about your mishap, Mooch.  But the real question here is...did the ling escape, or become dinner?  :smt003

don't really know Z...but I'm sure the promar site will have a clear description of it.

Unfortunately nada. If you do get a replacement it might be a good idea to reinforce that area. Some fiberglass tape and epoxy could do the trick. Actually, EK would probably have the perfect solution. :smt002

That blows primo.  I have the same net, I hope it doesn't break or that if it does that they replace mine too.

One thing I was noticing on mine is that the screws that hold the net to the handle seem to be rusting pretty quickly.  Just noticed it yesterday after the bean trip and haven't gotten a chance to really take a look at the full extent of the damage.

Angel - I wash mine down (with my rods) with fresh water after every trip to the ocean - I'll WD-40 it every now and then too.

I really like the net design for stowing purposes....just hope they can work on reinforcing the aluminum tubing on the base of the net.

If you (or any of you) have problems with your Promar net, let me know and I'll forward it to karen's promar contact.

I rinse mine down every trip too...although no wd-40 wash.  I might have to start doing that now.  You'd figure though that the screws would be a bit more resistant to corrosion than they seem to be.

I was thinking of buying one of those thanks for saving me some money and maybe a fish.
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

you should still consider it. they are nice and slick and packable. I have only had mine out
a couple times, but I'm glad I have it. I mainly use the fish grippers and gaf.

you can also have them in a rod holder, but folded down, so they don't catch the wind
and everything else.

you should consider it as backup at least I think.

Also, at least in SoCal, you are required to carry a net on any vessel from which you fish.  Rarely enforced, but you could get written up for it
