I used to be impatient when my power went off but after working with line crews, I am impressed with all the hard work and weather conditions they deal with.

Weather conditions is one of the reasons we just switched to a gas stove. I love the ease of cleaning an electric cook top but not when it's useless in these situations.

Haven't tried to override the electronic ignition on the oven yet, though. :smt004

I am happy that we have a gas range too.  It's time like this makes us appreciate what we take for granted.
We use the candle lighter to ignite the stove.   Cigarette lighter or matches work too  :smt003

I heard halibut are on the chew in these conditions.  :smt002

Stay safe , Sonny. Rain forecast tomorrow but no high winds as like today. Hopefully.

There is a window for Halibut scouting this Tuesday.  Seriously thinking about it  :smt002

Without some decent modifications, you won't be able to.  Voltage is sent to the igniter which heats up and only sends voltage to open the gas valve once it's hot.  If voltage stops flowing to the igniter, the gas valve closes.  You'd need to supply (and maintain) 120 VAC to the gas valve for it to open and manually light the oven.  You'd likely be better off keeping it simple and plugging the stove into one of those battery packs since the power draw is quite minimal on a gas stove and the loads are all resistive.

So I tried a simple 12 volt converter I use on my CPAP machine connected to a 20 amp hr lithium battery. It powered up the electronics and igniters for the top burners. I thought successful! Then I set the oven on to bake, the display started it's routine and oven function shut off after a few seconds. Plugged back into the wall and works. Time to break out the owners manual and talk to a local electrician. :smt004

Guessing output was too low for oven lighting requirements from the 12v converter

Guessing the voltage was too low from the 12v converter .

If your DC to AC converter using the "modified Sinewave" not "pure Sinewave" then this could be the problem.

Most li-ion battery packs are not going to be high-draw batteries.  20 Ah battery tells you how long it'll run, but doesn't indicate its max discharge.  For example, I have some 2.5 Ah 18650 cells here that are high-draw that will supply 20 amps.

However, that's just informational... output shouldn't be your problem.  The igniter only draws 3-3.5 amps.  Once it gets over approximately 3 amps, the igniter is sufficiently hot and the gas valve opens.  Hopefully all of this is moot and you have power back already... we're probably on generator through Thursday at this point.

Thanks for that information. Will try and correct accordingly.
