Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Promethean_Spark--------Well Thank You...!!!....Your explanation of the rational behind "why fish are attracted to an iron jig" banging away on the bottom-rocks finally helps me to understand how these things attract and catch fish.

I have not ever jigged with iron.   Not ever.   I've seen those things in the stores and because I could not fathom how they would work, or that they would work, or why......I refused to have anything to do with them.

Now that I know the rational behind them, I'll try them.

Judd,

I just got my first few iron fish last weekend and half the time it didn't even hit the bottom before it was hammered.

I only said you got bonus points for bottom banging.  It works scuba and freediving too, find something crunchy like a sea urchin or hydrocoral and make it crunch.  Critters start coming out of the woodwork when they hear that.

I have some homemade diamond jigs that I spray painted silver.  They caught fish even after all the paint had been banged off of them.  I'm pretty convinced that anything past a two-toned paint job is just paying extra so it looks pretty in the tackle box - at least for norcal fish.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

I just picked up a 40 lb box of lead from Costco tire shop. The guys said they usualy have to turn it in to a special hazardous waste guy but since no one was looking!!! I figured on these cold winter nights in Tahoe I could learn to pour.
