The DFG decided to close the inshore Rockfish season extra early this year. Unfortunately this means the 2023 Albion Open is canceled. We will regroup and plan ahead for next year. Thank you to everyone who was excited to participate!

I really hope they aren't charging 75 bucks to cancel a site? Hey, Alshobie. Did you get that figured out if they overcharged you? I thought it was a 20 dollar cancellation fee ?

Was looking forward to Albion. Looks like I will be attending mbk.

No, they didn't call back, and I still need to call again.  Will do so today and see what happens.

Well I got the 56 dollars refunded, but I had to seriously argue my case.  The truth is they will stick by their policy that changed on July 1st:
Quote
Cancelation Policy: Campsites- more than 5 days  before your arrival, the cancelation  FEE is your 1st nights stay. Less than 5 days  before your arrival, the FULL amount of your stay is forfeited.

RV rental: more than 5 days before your arrival, the cancelation FEE is $75.00. Less than 5 days before your arrival, the FULL amount of your stay is forfeited.
Maybe they could use a spell checker...

They are in fact charging $75.00 to cancel even though the Albion Campground site clearly states that the fee should be $20.00.  The fee was $20 when the site was booked and the new management refuses to honor the terms of the contract.  I'm pretty sure small claims court would find against them but there's a $30 filing fee and Mendocino County courts are a long way away for me.  They need to be realistically reviewed on Yelp and all campsite review sites.

I was able to cancel my reservation via the original reservation confirmation link sent to my email and it was very easy. They did keep $65 (first night's fee) of my original amount paid.

My 'solution' is less elegant.  I say we all show up and have them earn that campground fee: big communal bon fires, fireworks, loud music and a hell of a good time!

I just tried and it won't let me.  Here's a screen shot:
First, the reservation:
Second, the attempt to cancel:
I tried calling but got voicemail.  Let message to cancel and expecting $20 cancellation based on original contract.

Update:  I just received an email from Dennis at Albion.  They have agreed to issue me credit based upon the $20 cancelation fee that was in effect when my reservation was made in January.  I will cancel the credit card dispute as soon as I see the credit has been applied to my account.  It's too bad  they had to make something so simple, so difficult.

Double bummer. Are we gonna be able to get a refund on our entry fee?

I’ll be sending everyone who registered already an email soon. But you will have the option to donate your entry fee to Coastside, use it for next year’s tournament or get a refund.

You're assuming there will be an inshore season next year?

I’m not fully presuming, but I hold great hope that the campground won’t be subject to flood, fire or earthquake closure and - we will have a recreational boat-based fishing season next year. Please.
