That system gives me the creeps. All that water in your hull then 2 fresh holes in your hull for inflow and outflow? Too many points of hull compromise for my taste.

Looks like a nice install though Sherm! I am sure it will work out well for you, just color me paranoid.  :smt003

Hey Bill,
Granted there will be some PM issues to insure safe operation. But all below the water line fittings are done with double clamps and 5200. The tank will be removed often and checked for problems,  since the tank fitting clamps are not accessable. Not any worse than any other part of this going fishing on potatoe chip thing. We are all just an 1/8 of an inch from death. Thanks for responding, but I do think these tanks are the way to go for versitilty and no nonsense bait fishing. Oh by the way her maiden voyage is going to be on the lake.

Like I said Sherm, I am sure it will work out just fine. I just get freaked about cutting below the water line.  :smt003

Looks like a nice setup but I'm with Bill... seeing holes below the waterline makes me nervous but then again I don't really trust myself to make holes above the waterline either.

Ditto.  I like the concept, yet it scares the crap out of me at the same time.

The accepted view is that nothing truly bonds to polyethylene except polyethylene. Small holes below the water line say for a sail rig can be acceptable because we have amazing waterproofing agents in the 07. Holes like that though just the 1% chance of failure would be catastrophic if solo. It's standard on boats but these plastic jobbies are barely keeping us alive out there in rough water.

Nice way to pimp your ride Sherman, very impressive work you have done and added a nice amenity to the BG. At first I was taken back by the hole in hull, but reality is that this is SOP in the boating world and have experienced more than a fair share of failure even in expensive boats. I think you know this to be true and knowing you are a marine mechanic will have take all into consideration to ensure your safety while on the water. Good luck and please report back on the performance of your new system.  :smt006 Mike

nice install on what looks like a tough project  :smt007

I plan to make my own inside tank for my extreme I will use this on my
crab setup, but the water lines be above the water line so i don't have
to worry about any misshapes  :smt010

but if I were you i would put a bilge pump in the rear of the kayak
with an automatic float switch a 360 GPH should do the trick
you can run it off the tank battrey with the discharge above
the water line I thought of doing this just to be safe on my
kayak so if I get whacked by a GWS the pump should able
to keep up with the in coming water hopefully?

remember it is just a piece of plastic don't put to much
trust in it because it can and will fail.

Shimano has a real nice Kayak bag with rod holders. It has an optional bait tank system as well. Their web site shows a video on how to set it up.
Pretty nice, but kinda pricey $$$

Got pics of the underside?

Would flex in the boat eventually cause some leakage?

Is that normal for the scupper cut outs to be so different?
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

It must be a Big Game thang. You are able to put a transducer in the scupper. Thats what I was told.
