Hi I'm Grandpa Poppi, the name comes from my grandkids and when I had to come up with a user name that was it. They were pretty pleased.
I actually live in Reno. So far all my fishing has been in California. Basically fished all my life but am always open to learning something new. I bit the bullet and bought a Hobie pro angler 14 and love it. Basically all I can think about these days is getting back on the water. My wife has kayaked for several years and has been wanting me to get into it. Glad I listened this time.
Recently I have mostly done fly fishing when I am on the rivers and lakes. Am in no way a purist, different techniques for different fish and different days. Grew up fishing the Ocean and can't wait to get back out there too. Excited about traveling with it to new places.
So much to learn about fishing from a kayak. Every day is something new. Always something new to learn.
Curt

Grandpa Poppi, Stampede is just up 80 a short way from you. If you want to give Kokanee fishing a try, let me know. Welcome to NCKA!

Welcome Curt. Definitely download and check Windy and other apps. Stampede is great for Kokanee, but Pyramid is a world-class fishery for Cutthroats in the cooler months and Sac Perch in the warmer months. With a kayak and downrigger, you can do well when the fish are deeper than fly-fishing range. With a kayak, you just have to make sure not to be on the water if winds over about 10mph are in the forecast.
