Did anyone wash their Kokatat semi drysuit in a washing machine? Is there any damage or wear as a result?

As per Kokatat :
When washing, always follow sewn-in care instructions. With dry suits and dry tops Kokatat recommends using cold water, delicate cycle, gentle liquid soap, with no bleach or harsh chemicals, and high water volume, in a front loading machine. Rinse well (which may mean running it through a second time, inside out with no soap OR use a cold shower). Line dry.

My previous Kokatat semi-drysuit got moldy--completely my fault for leaving it in a damp location too long. I thought it was ruined, but Kokatat said it would still work as intended, and recommended washing it, which I did (multiple times) following their directions. Although the moldy spots were impossible to wash out, washing had no ill effects.
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

I have washed mine several times, and have washed other Gortex pants, and jackets over the years using Nikwax Tech Wash, and TX. Direct. I do a lot of mushroom hunting during the winter in the rain, and one of the problems is when your garments no longer shed the water. The water doesn't get through but when the fabric gets soaked on the out side the cold transfers in. Highly recomend:

Another option I have found works well is I use the cleaning solution for scuba dry suits, you can pick up in a scuba shop. I many times will also just wash in a gentle cycle, with no detergent, extra rinse cycle and that works also, Ron.

+1 on the Nikwax products.  One dry suit per load, no other garments/accessories in the same load.  Make sure all Velcro is fastened.  TechWash first, inside-out rinse, then a full wash cycle with TX.direct.  I find that DWR "sets" better with heat, so I always tumble dry on low until just damp before hanging dry.  After it's dry, 303 the seals, lube the zippers and inspect closely for tears, thin areas, etc.  A flashlight on the inside while observing from the outside helps reveal tears or thinning pretty quickly.  Back in service it goes...

My Kokatat drysuit need repair.   Used to bring it to Clavey in Petaluma when I live in Benicia but it's too far now.  Searching for an authorized shop near Monterey but can't find one.  Thanks for any suggestions.

Why don't you just mail it in to Kokatat? That's what I've always done...

Thanks for the suggestion.   Do you still have the mailing info?  Really haven’t thought of this option.

Thanks Al.  I bought mine long ago so it won't be a warranty repair  :smt003. The gaskets are bad and I am sure there are some small holes on it  :smt009. Not sure with the cost for repair and shipping will be.  Maybe I  should "hint" my wife what I want for Father's day  :smt005

You may be surprised with Kokatat's service.  Whether it's warranty or not, it's the same service center.

I always wash my Kokatat drysuit with Nicwax washing liquid in a front loader with cold water and no spin.  I turn it inside out and hang it on a hanger to dry outside.  When dry, I turn it back out and hang it for a few more hours ti make sure its completely dry.  I store it inside a closet on a hanger.
