First a good halibut rod and reel? I just bought a lamiglass x-11 mh 2-6oz. Loki g for a reel for that one and also a rod and reel for rockfish and lingcod when that opens up. Welcome! I really like the Piscifun Alijoz Size 300 Low Profile Baitcasting Reels. They are inexpensive, so you wont cry if they sink in the drink, but are very well built. I have three of them. They often have 15-25% off sales if you can wait. Moo Moo outdoors did a review you might want to check out. For my pole I like ugly stik tiger medium.

Welcome!  The X-11 sounds like it would be great for bait fishing like drifting for halibut/rockfish, at least I like a limber rod for that.  For rockfishing you want a bit more backbone especially if you want to keep them from running back to hide in a hole or under a ledge.
