The Mendo article will get you on the right track.

Regarding trolling, the article really only talks about pulling live bait, either shad or minnows, and since live bait is a no-no at BAMIII, what do people recommend dragging?

Obviously the Kastmaster, that was mentioned in the "Fishing Boils" section can be trolled, but is there anything else?  I wouldn't dare pull the Zoom or Bass Assassin, rather I would leave them for topwater.  But what about the Excaliber Spittin Image or the Storm Wildeye Swim Shad - not familiar with them.

Maybe Shad patterned Rapalas?  Krocodiles?

Thanks for any and all help.  And would totally understand if all lips are sealed.

Why not? I think Naoaki caught a striper at Mendo this year on a trolled zoom and I used to do pretty well on the East Coast for stripers and bluefish with trolled sluggos.

Guess I just thought that even with the best swivel that one would have trouble with line twisting.

I don't have much experience when it comes to fishing for anything with the word "bass" in its name.  Trying to gather intel, thanks for the insight.

Trolling a Zoom can be effective.  Keep in mind, that for the most part these fish eat small shad all day. Its what they are looking for.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

If the fish don't boil I'll be pulling a Zoom and/or a Kastmaster. Zooms CAN be rigged so they don't twist. The more you rig the better you get at it. The hook has to run straight in the body of the Zoom. I sometimes throw them away if they refuse to cooperate and rig a brand new one.
Jigging right under the boat when fish are on the meter also works, more so with a spoon than the fluke.
I just hope the fish are in a feeding mode that weekend.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Thats some gold right there, thanks Juan. This is going to be very interesting with all us maniacs flogging the water with mostly the same things. We will see what pays off luck or skill. I personally am goung for a catch and release, fly only, BIG KITTY!!!

Always lived by the philosophy that if you can't spell a word at least 3 different ways...

You weren't trying or very creative.....
