Don't want to be a debbie downer, but if the target is *any* tuna, why not launch from SD and heads towards the donkey show (mexico, a little too early for wfo in US waters)?

The latest from Mr. X (as of 4:23):

Sudenly wind stop. Wait for two hours already.  No way paddje one hundred mile. Forcost bad.

Windy.com shows that the winds at 10+ knots, so I hope Mr. X has gotten out from behind the island and is again sailing at a decent clip...

Since his last message at 4:30pm yesterday, I've send a couple of text messages to Mr. X, but no response yet. According to windy, winds are pretty light, like 5kt, so it is probably slow going...

Almost 24 hours, but finally got a text from Mr. X! It sounds like he had an extremely rough time of it last night, but he survived.

Anyways, he says conditions are now good, and he doesn't foresee any difficulty getting to LA.
