I have a chance to pick it up for a steal, but don't know anything about it. Before I make the trip, does anyone recognize the brand or know any info about it? The two-scupper system reminds me of a Necky dolphin but this surely isn't one.

Cheers!

Have you tried a search in Google Images or Google Lens? The inter web reports that such things might work

Looks fast  if it’s a steal than you’ll feel less intimidated to make it work,   Drilling, mounting, accessorizing…it has stealth vibes… :smt006

Lens gave me nothing. I tried that before coming here. Was hoping polepole or someone might remember this from their years long past.

That's my thinking. My current yak is a literal barge, especially at 75lbs. Definitely would have to drill and mount a lot of things on this but I think I could live with it.

Old Malibu as in the brand or the subsequent OK models?

This is what I was looking for! OG's chiming in. That said, I couldn't find anything about old/original Malibu kayaks. I already checked against the old Swell/Ocean Kayak models but it doesn't look like a match. Looks like I'll try to pick it up. Think $60 is decent?

Hmm, gotcha, makes sense. I wonder if Craig saw this, he knows a lot of the history.

As long as the kayak is not weather beaten where the plastic seems old and brittle. That is a steal for 60 bucks.

I would definitely be happy with that purchase.
