I've had my hully rollers 5 years or so, and I liked them.. but lately the rubber has turned into something like chewing gum.
Sticky, gooey, not nice stuff. Anyone encountered this and found an economical way to repair/ replace the rubber goo?

I have experienced that hully roller mush!
Had an older one  and it did that too.
on my trailer I have some and keep a  towel or rag covering them and 5 yrs have passed and still in good shape.
I believe the sun’s uv rays are the reason for the softy mush…

I had some rollers sitting in my garage and they developed that nasty goo so I tossed them.  I always thought UV was the cause, but I'm thinking its the heat as these were kept away from any sunlight, but garage gets pretty hot during the summers.

I had the same thing happen. Must be a problem with their composition.
I got annoyed when I put my new-to-me T13 on them and they left big skidmarks on the hull.
I cut off as much of the rubber as I could with a sharp knife, (some of it peeled off clean), and then used rubbing alcohol to get rid of the tackiness left on the rollers. They cleaned up nicely!
I meant to wrap them in something, maybe bike tube rubber, but then never did.
I've used them for more than a year with no complaints, and no more gross goo on my clean kayak.

I wrapped my gooey ones with Gorilla tape and it worked.  If I ever replace them, I might preventably tape them to keep them from going gooey.
