Prediction for Mavericks is 30-45'.  I really want to go check it out, but that's the main day of the next atmospheric river and I fear slides and downed trees will block my routes back home afterwards.

It's definitely going to be big and stormy but with the strong SW winds Mavericks will be a mess. The whole coast will be big and burly. I plan on checking out OB from the dunes for a bit if the rains aren't too heavy. I love watching a big angry ocean - the raw power is amazing.

Cheers,
Brad

I hope the boardwalk at The Dunes doesn't get pummeled again.

Should be some good perch fishing when things calm down.

Gonna be a good day to watch the webcams with a cup of coffee!
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

I was up in Coos Bay, Oregon a few days ago and they had a similar day with 30' swell and 30' wave forecast. The local news said it was the highest surf since 2018. I went out to Shore Acres park to watch the waves hitting the cliff. The the angle of the rocks there is perfect for making huge splashing waves. It was truly epic. The picture shows a wave that splashed at least 150' high. For reference I think the cliff is about 100' high. You can also see some people on the cliff in front of the wave. If you are ever in that area on a rough day Shore Acres is definitely the place to be.

One of the craziest forecasts is Cowells 20-25

We are doing the local road trip just to see it and look for a sheltered spot to surf, maybe LM or steamer if not too washed out

Even the hook is saying 15-20
