Rough week...we all have 'em. One of my dearest friends, who also happens to be my boss, was diagnosed with cancer. Stage 4, he starts chemo sessions next week. His week was a lot rougher than mine. :smt010

I needed a little time to myself to reflect, focus and pray, so I made a run to the lake this morning.

I also felt like doing things a little different..kind of simple. Not sure why.
I loaded my little 10' SIK instead of my P13..(hmmm, no FF...but that's OK).
Took one light rod instead of two.
Took two bags of senko's instead of all those frogs, spooks and poppers.
Wore a crappy pair of boxers and my bargin bin shorts instead of my nice LL Bean shorts.
Took my old cheap straw hat instead of my REI hat.
Stopped at Circle K for coffee and those yummy little chocolate donut gems instead of Starbucks.
I even left a little later in the morning and took my time instead of rushing out early. Why hurry?

Got to the lake and noticed it was full, water to the brim. No wind and there was a little foggy mist over the water. It looked beautiful. Noticed something else..no boats on the water. There wasn't another boat in sight. I had the lake to myself... thank you Lord.

I had a nice paddle, watched the swans, tossed a few Senko's, caught a couple fish, spent some time in prayer. It was all good.

I think I'll have another beer...this one's for Marty.

Here's some pics:

The lake was smooth and the water was clear.

Caught a couple little bass. Biggest was was 16".

Sorry to hear about your friend. It seems like sooner or later, cancer affects us all one way or another. I hope that everything goes well with his fight with cancer.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts and prayers. This is a great group...brings tears to my eyes.

On a upbeat note....Marty had his first chemo session Monday and was back to work today.
Only 5 more sessions to go!

Wishing you all the best..Al

Huge bummer.  Fishing makes good therapy, hope it all works out.
