Thank you for allowing me to join this group!

Although I have almost 3 score years on the planet, I only began fishing 3 years ago when I moved to Santa Cruz.

I have fished from the shore, 4 and 6 packs up and down NorCal, several large party boats on the central coast  and even a skiff out of Capitola.  I thought all that was amazing until I went out on several local Kayak charters and just fell in love with the fishing experience from a yak.

With the big 60 coming up, my wife agreed to get me the fishing kayak of my dreams, and I realize I don't yet know enough to accurately dream what I need!

I have been reading your newbie posts ... THANK YOU, very useful.   I am building my checklist of what I will need to know, buy and do before I hit the water.   I will keep reading and hopefully not ask the questions which can be easily answered by searching the great articles that have already been written.

Thank you again.  I am pumped to start this next chapter of my fishing journey.

Welcome Ivan!   :smt006  Look forward to reading about your new adventures into the world of kayak fishing.  I literally learned everything from this site and people like Bushy that shared so freely.  When you have questions don't be afraid to ask, or comment on an existing post.

I'm super curious to see what your dream kayak looks like, once it materializes.

Piscean asked above, so I note that after a lot of research, my dream Kayak turns out to be an Old Town Sportsman 'Salty' PDL 120 with a Hummingbird Helix7 chirp mega di+ gps g4n fishfinder.

Currently accumulating all the safety gear and hope to be on the water by the end of August!

Nice to meet you, I also bought my first fishing kayak recently, it’s a Hobie Outback. I debated a lot between PDL 120 and Outback, the winning factor is the weight. I also bought a Yakima Show Boat to help load and unload to/from car top. Hope you enjoy your new kayak!

Bought my Old Town Salty from Monterey Bay Kayaks and got on the water by Labor Day and have been out a handful of times in the last month in Santa Cruz and  Monterey.

Having a blast!
