Haven't seen many recent reports for halibut in the bay - is it kinda over for the season?

I fished ARW a few days ago - nada.  Water was pretty murky - had a red tea color stain.  Heard about an algae bloom recently, must be that.  Went quite a ways past the end of the second wall, and then way out towards the anchorage, couldn't find clear water anywhere.

Anyone fished Richmond lately?  I'm wondering if this visibility issue is the same up there?

I have a window to go out tomorrow AM... would like to fish near home, but not if chances of success are slim to none.

The red tide is apparently really bad news for the Bay and is spreading. There ares some very mild tides coming up labor day weekend that I may target if I can get an idea where clean water might be.

Yeah, I've been watching this develop for a while now.  I drive over the Bay Bridge everyday, and have just watched it slowly creep over the whole bay, both sides.  Saw reports of dead stripers down in the south bay that is linked to this algae - I think I am done in the bay until next spring.  I am hoping this doesn't mess up salmon/striper/sturgeon migration and population numbers.

Fished the bar on Friday then moved into the bay due to no real action.
No action in the bay either.
Few sharks, few shorts. All on live bait.
Was in a nice 24' Parker so at least it was comfortable.

Water is starting to look cleaner near YBI/TI - I haven't been north or south of the bay bridge for a while.  Handful of boats out fishing today - is the algae mostly gone?  Would love to get out and fish the bay this weekend, even if from shore.

Anyone else fishing the bay again?

John and I hit ARW last weekend and found a few biting fish and decent Looking water. Lots of shorts and a few barely legals in the mix. They bit anchovy and herring, seemed to prefer the chovy.

Still plenty of halibut inside the bay.  Lots of shakers, handful of decent keepers.  Most of the bigger ones are closer to the Gate or outside now.

That's about what I was thinking too - but also want to get a feel for if others are comfortable fishing/eating fish from the bay, considering the algae situation from a few weeks ago.

I drove over the bay bridge this morning - water looked pretty clean from 160' or so, and at the pier on TI it looked mostly clear too.

Water was clear for me on Thurs.  Lots of baitfish all over.  Water may be dirty today cuz it’s windy as hell and it’s a big swing tide.  End of Next week will look better for halibut.
