Looking at this coming Sunday, since it's the weekend and no work, and possibly taking off next Tuesday (9/13) because the swells look better for a Half Moon Bay salmon attempt. Magicseaweed says swells are 2.5 feet at 13 seconds for Sunday @ Dunes beach, and that seems like a possible "swells go south, fish shut their mouth" situation. Santa Cruz and Capitola have some decent southern swell in the forecast as well.

Do south swells shut down the salmon bite?

Trying to sort out a plan as it'll be a month since my last kayak outing due to a bunch of family stuff and BS.

Yeah, Capitola is the retreat option.

I consider myself a beginner with respect to salmon. From my understanding, and from a weather forecast perspective I think that chances for salmon bite increase when we get cold, green murky water, and fog/overcast/wind. These conditions translate to rich water and ideal feeding conditions. Next week it looks like we may get that.
I’ve fished several times this season with south swell and the bite was good.
