Oh boy.  I was hoping that fellow had moved on.....  Can't say it's the same fish but I would not be surprised.  The fin does not look any different than the one that chased me.  Wondering if you ever saw the tail and estimated length from dorsal to tailfin?

My first sight of "my" GWS was similar presentation. Just the dorsal showing. Problem is that means the shark is somewhat submerged and what I COULD see was really big!

Way to keep your calm with possible exception of  that first missed gaff shot.  hahaha.  For future reference, I'd suggest maybe getting that halibut outta the water asap.  Those  guys are attracted to thrashing fish.

Looks like the shark shield was working great though, it was significantly far away.  what would your estimate of closest approach be?

What a coup to get video.  AND, I'm kinda amazed at how hard that halibut ran as well.

And lastly, thank you for selling me your extra Shark Shield LOL

In gratitude, amazement and Awe,

Bushy

I never did see the tail come out, but it was possible to see from the ripples that extended far back that it was a pretty massive beast. Length-wise, hmm... I don't know...

I'd just add that the only thing that really freaked me out was seeing it again about 45 minutes later. Although it was significantly farther away, it made me think that it found me a little too interesting for my tastes.

Of course it's impossible to know for sure whether the SS was the difference, but it definitely seemed to keep a respectful distance, as compared to the aggressive behavior you were subjected to...

After all of this excitement, combined with Bushy's encounter, I'm getting one of those Shark Shields...
