I've been seeing reports of salmon moving up the rivers and I was wondering if salmon are ever caught in the bay? Specifically, since I live in Alameda, do people ever get lucky and hook up on a salmon at the ARW? I know it's early and highly unlikely, but jut curious.

Conditions don't look great out in the ocean for a bit, so I was considering getting on the water for some exercise and target salmon instead of halibut and see if I get lucky. Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

The most consistent area over the years is California City which is between Angel Island and Tiburon. Otherwise it’s up to Benicia. However, there have been reports in the last few years of kayakers catching salmon at ARW while targeting halibut. When they head to spawn it is a reaction bite so mostly flashy spoons are used.

Good luck if you try.
