I sometimes clip a little plastic golf counter to it to keep track of my fishies too but the last two have taken a swim... I just try really hard to remember how many I put in there since its such a pain to count fish on the water.

Its a serious issue! I thought I had 9 in my bag last weekend when I actually had 10.... doubles start coming over board after a long day on the water you might lose count!

I try to leave a couple fish spots in there just in case I catch a nice one later in the day. (like my last verm)

I try to leave a couple fish spots in there just in case I catch a nice one later in the day. (like my last verm)

I use a "pace counter," like from my Army days.  Basically, tie some knots (4 in top section, 9 in bottom section) on cordage (or get fancy and buy some beads for the full "Ranger Beads" effect).  For every keeper fish, I slide a knot down from the 9 section.  When you get to ten, pull 1 down from the top section of 4, and reset lower section of 9 by pulling them back up.  Works great when crabbing as well.  Just tie it to your vest or kayak.  If you lose it, just make another one  :smt003   See pic for reference:
