My Lamiglas has a loose reel seat. Not sure what to do about it other than tape it maybe? It wiggles back and forth a bit. Getting some marine goop on the inside would do it, but I don't think there's a way to take it apart. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Andrew

Drill a small hole in reel seat and funnel rod building epoxy into it?

Get it hot, drip crazy glue in union area. Chill rod fast, (ac vent) sucks glue in... or send for repair to lami, good warranty on their rods
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

+1
I build rods and use to repair rods when I worked at a local hunting and fishing shop. This is the way I’ve been taught to fix a loose reel seat. Use a bottle with a needle tip so you only make a small hole and fill it up as much as it will take. Then line it up straight with your guides and use masking or blue painters tape to hold it in place for 24-48 hours. If you rod building epoxy mixture is correct it will be solid. Pm me if you have more questions.

You'd think they would have fixed that problem by now.  Every X-11 I've had developed that loose reel seat.  Lamiglas will warranty exchange for you.  I like the solution described above thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions. I drilled a couple holes and injected a bunch of West Systems 2-part epoxy into both of them. I'll see how it sets up. Hopefully this fixes it.

Is their warranty good?  I got an X11 rod from a tournament raffle and on the first cast it broke.  Don't have a receipt, but the thing still has the plastic wrap on it  :smt005  Think that could be exchanged without a receipt?

Not sure. This has been a great rod. I think I got it in 2018 or 2019 and it's never had an issue until this, and if the epoxy fixes it, that beats sending it in.

Lamiglass did have a good warranty department but I haven’t dealt with them in a long time. I make any of their rod warranty’s voided within the first week of buying it by stripping off all of their label info and doing a diamond wrap up to the first guide lol. I don’t think they have it where you can take it to retailer and swap it out so you will be without a rod for a few weeks. If you are wanting to use the rod in the next few weeks I’d just do it myself. But definitely call their customer service a call and talk to them and see what they say first. Talking to them is free and then at least you will have options.

This morning the whole thing seems very solid. The epoxy set up nicely. I'm back in business. Thanks again for the tip.

Lami will ask you cut out the section of rod that contains model info and label.  you can send a short stub in a regular letter envelope.  they'll send back a new rod.  If you're out of warranty, thy have a "replaemnt charge" program.  cheaper than retail even if you snapped it off in your truck door.  I have two X-11 top sections in the garage as a result of this processs.  Lami wil also let you upgrade if you're making a warranty claim, so it the model is disontinued, or if you want a diferent type/model/grade of rod they'll apply a generous credit towards a completely different model.  Trick is, call them and talk to a live human being be super nice.  Send them picures of fish your kids have drawn with crayons.

It works!

they are still good people at Lamiglas.

(*No, I am not affiliated with lamiglas but I wish I was)
