Official BAMIII Info thread

Reg. is $50 which includes two nights (10/5 and 10/6) of camping for anglers plus family/significant others for Friday and Saturday nights.  We will be camping at the northwest end of Lake Mendocino at a group camp site known as "Angels Camp".  This camp is not for general use so you wont see it on any official map.  The camp has nice rolling terrain, waterfront yak parking, a few tables, and a fire ring for a nice group campfire.  The lake will be bringing in nice porta potties for the event. We will have Angels Camp Friday and Sat. nights.

THERE ARE SEVERAL GATES THAT WILL APPEAR TO BE LOCKED AFTER 10 PM EACH NIGHT, SO PRETTY-SUPER PLEASE CLOSE THEM BEHIND YOU TO KEEP THE ILLUSION ALIVE OR WE WILL BE ASKING DIP-WEEDS TO LEAVE OUR CAMP ALL NIGHT.

The nitty-gritty:



I have decided to change the format to increase the skill factor and because of the low water levels. The new format:

2 fish heavy limit tourney
Artificials only, no bait
8 bonus oz for fly only
8 bonus oz for C&R
Longer hours 0600 to 300 pm

We will have a weigh boat for C&R.

Prizes for 1st-3rd, and a bonus prize for the heaviest kitty caught over the weekend.

1st prize is the legendary BAM buckle and $500 cash money.
2nd will get an all carbon paddle
3rd will get an Okuma kayak rod 
 
Potluck and awards Sat. night starting at 6:00 pm.  Kitty award wil be given out Sun. am so you have an extra night of bait soaking.  As always we will provide yet another keg of premium microbrew. 

Expect the potluck dinner to be another NCKA tailgate tour de force of outdoor cooking....get your grill on!  GWKC is working on an item new top secret menu item for 2007!

Unlike Elk, there is a ton of room and no attendance limit, so the more the merrier...I would love to set a NCKA record!!! We hope to raise at least $1000 for the Ukiah Chapter of the California Striped Bass Association.  Mendo would be just another mud puddle without their hard work. 

We will also have a striper shirt available this time.  If you want one we need to get your order/reg by the 19th.  The shirt is super nice.  We need a minimum order of 36 shirts to make the shirt a go.

How early can I get to Angel's Camp on Friday? My wife and I were thinking of hitting the road as soon as the commuter traffic dies down, which would put us at the lake around 11:00 am. Will the area be open then, and is it obvious where we should set up our tent, park, etc.?

BTW, the pot luck sounds awesome. I plan on bringing about a gallon of home made salsa! 

The camp will open around 200 pm.  Feel free to go paddling etc. from the regular day use areas.

SCWA, was wondering if there is cell phone reception at the camp spot or the lake. If not where do we need to go to get some?
