I jumped on my buddies 26 Skipjack and it sucked over 100 gals of gas!!  Dang!!  The three of us did land 16 albies on the troll, we didn't wait for the live bait guy at HMB.  There was a line and it since it was before 5 am, we were too impatient to wait around for it to open.

I think we should have!  Trolling is not as exciting as bait fishing and I think we would have done better.  I tried throwing out dead bait and threw out iron but never got bit.  We should have used dead bait with a sinker on the slide...next time!

Most were all peanuts but I did weight one for the Southside fishing club that was almost 21lbs. I guess the bigger school was down south.  We started at 10/23 which is around 50+ miles out.  We got doubles immediately but it died.  We heard 10/10 was good so we finally went there around noon and started getting some.  I quit before six so it was a long day.

FYI,  I tried a new receipe I saw on TV.  Peanut/sesame seed crusted seared tuna...

Dip a steak in Dijon mustard with a little soy sauce and sesame oil. Roll it in sesame seeds and chopped peanuts and sear in olive oil.  Get some mayo and put some soy, a splash of lime juice and wasabe in it to make the sauce.

Yumm!!!!

That sounds like a good score to me. a bit too far for the montauk?

Hey I did a loin seared style too.

I made up this one with stuff I had sitting around:

roll loin in safflower oil with some sesame oil mixed in.

get some of that 'rice seasoning' (it is salt, sugar, nori and sesame seeds in a shaker can).

pour some out on waxed paper.

add some red pepper flakes to the seasoning.

roll the oiled tuna loin in the seasoning.

slap in a hot pan and roll it around a bit searing the outside 1/4" of fish or so.

serve with rice and a cucumber salad.
