Im having difficulty removing the rusted bearings on my Calcutta to get them replaced. Anybody got good technique?

Not sure if it would work in your situation, I use Coca-cola soda to remove rust off of chrome.   Also PBblaster works on loosing up rusted parts.

Are you willing to purchase a bearing puller?  Might cost more than the value of the reel.  Boca sells bearing pullers.

I just replaced the bearings in my calcutta, used an allen wrench to wiggle the bearing in the side plate, gave it some circular motions then it kinda fell out halfway and was stuck again, but was able to get it w that allen wrench. The other one requires you to remove that pin, you can do it with pliers just be careful, might need some oil and to work it back and forth. Used a smaller allen head to get the pin out all the way.
