oh man, now this brings back memories.. I grew up walking distance to the lake. I remember renting those little red boats and rowing along the tulies dunking worms for bass. they poisoned the lake at one point, don't remember what year, and most of them died- wonder if they are survivors or new plants?

Gettin fish on a Recon!!  DUDE! Way to put in some tosses in there and pull some fish.
some guy a few years ago told me that his BassTourneyBuddies would bring fish back in their livewells to plant in there. He has personally caught +5lbers from the old rotten boat docks.
thanks for the report and pics!  i think a hunt/visit will be in my future plans.
No hassles about being there at night?.......sneeky-type-shit? the better!

as long as you dont park inside the main gate no prob. gate locks at 10pm and theres no getting out(i found out the hard way got locked in) but no prob. i went again yesterday off the shore and missed a few bites but by buddie caught a dink. the lake is tough but once in a while the fish decide they wanna eat. the north lake used to have some massive catfish in there, when i worked at sportsmart 5 years ago people would show me pics of some monsters they pulled out of the north lake!!! if any one wants to go and fish this lake let me know ive fished it my whole life from the time i was 8 years old my mom would drop me off solo to bank fish for a few hour, thats when the fisin bug got me!!! i know that lake like the back of my hand!! and there are some huge bass still roaming around, my biggest was a 12.5 lb and i lost one that was probably over 10 last year!!!

yep, i grew up a short bike ride away from there too. rode my bike down there and fished all day after sunday morning paper route. used to catch good size trouts on powerbait. i've only actually caught a few small bass though.

it's been poisoned ever since i remember, at least since 93 when i started going. a lot of old timers advised against keeping fish from that lake. i was so scared i think i kept maybe 5 fish in total.

they haven't plant any bass for the longest time now. i doubt they even still plant trouts. then again, i haven't been there since 2000

anyways, good memories indeed. thanks for the post. maybe i might actually join the next night out. keep your posts coming.

actually dfg is starting to plant trout from time to time, the only problem is that dfg plants the trout so small that those stupid comrants eat them in no time, ive witnessed one comerant come up and eat three 12inch trout in about 5 minutes and with as many as they have in that lake the plants disapear in a matter of hours

Yeah you're right about those cormorants.  Looks like they have a big rookery on the north lake.  They have to be feeding on something. Hey, so what do you think of the ride on my scupper. Man,  I was able to handle two surf landings at linda mar recently but I guess beach landing at Lake Merced was just too much :smt044.  At least no one saw me fall off in 3 inches of water  :smt003.  Let me know when you want to try the yak at Linda Mar.  Also I heard reports of surf fishermen casting big bomber lures at night catching stripers in the area..
