Having issues with my FF.
Bad temp reading 2 weeks ago
Then depth issues this week. Sonar would freeze on and off and lose bottom.
Now it won’t even make the ticking sound and zero sonar.
I updated the software already and no changes.
Battery is showing 12+ voltage
Wondering if it’s a bad transducer?
I heard they burn out from overheating if unit is turned on while on land which I often do when rigging up.
Anyways is there anyone here near Benicia that have the Helix that I can plug my unit to your transducer to see if it works on my unit before I buy a new one for mine?
TIA
Allan

I’m not that near Benicia, but I have a chirp transducer/helix7(G4) that you might be able to test with. I make it to the East bay occasionally to fish (Richmond mainly) so maybe we could work something out.  Humminbird customer service was excellent to me when I had an issue if you haven’t yet contacted them it may be worth a shot.

Mine gets similarly temperamental when the pins inside the cables get corroded from salt water contact. A quick (and routine applications) of Corrosion X helps, if that is indeed the problem. Its worth a try.

The pins for transducer are clear of corrosion but I’ll try and spray some Cx on the pin holes in the unit. Thanks👍

I'm in Walnut Creek and you're welcome to come by and plug my transducer into your FF. The temperature should work. You will need to be on the water to fully test it out, but I have used a trash can with a pot lid at the bottom as a reflector to see if my FF is getting a signal from the transducer if you want to give that a try.

Thanks. Yes the temp reading shows on the screen but the screen does not scroll. It used to scroll when turned on even on land n no audible ticking from transducer.

I have your same setup and just installed a new transducer due to oddities...I'm in San Rafael and the kayak is always with me at work.  We could pull it down and plug it in if timing works... :smt006

So I just decided to bite the bullet and took a chance on the transducer being the problem with the FF and ordered a new one from Amazon.
FF is now working fine with the new transducer. Took a look at the old one and noticed that there is a hard bubbling on the face whereas the new one has a concave surface. I read somewhere not to turn on FF out of water because it might cause the transducer to overheat but I did it all the time while rigging up. Might or might not be the cause of the FF not getting good reading because of overheating and bubbling but just thought this might be of help with those running the Helix and troubleshooting.
