My wife and I have parked on the beach here before and had a great time kayaking around the rocks: Just loved it.

Because we’re in an RV when we’re up here - we take the dogs with us and leave them in the truck for the 2 hours or so we’re yaking around. We let them run on the beach while we’re getting ready and let them back out in a couple of hours when we return. In the meantime they snooze and enjoy the cool breeze blowing through the truck.

Nobody up here has really given me the lowdown and what level of high tide puts your vehicle (and my doggies) in jeopardy!

Are there any Humboldt’ers out there that can help me?

Launch beach?  Anything over 6, don't park on the beach.  Expect to get wet tires if you try to leave the beach over 5.5 or so.  Pull all the way forward as far as you can.  In an RV, you might consider not parking on the beach at anything over 4 as a courtesy to others using the beach because you'll be sticking out a ways.

"Trinidad Beach" is a different place than the launch beach, at the other side of the parking lot to the north.  Also called State beach.  You are not allowed to drive on it.

Also, leaving dogs in your car is totally standard around here but tourists often freak out when they see it because they aren't used to it.

Thanks for both your responses. Extremely helpful. Also didn’t realize Trinidad and Launch beaches were different.  Also good to know.  I’m talking about launch beach! (Apparently) And, based on your info I’ll avoid parking the truck down there if the ride chart exceeds 5’. Thanks again.
