So with another salmon season upon us, I'm looking over gear and trying to decide whether or not to replace my PowerPro. It's a few years old but still looks clean. Maybe strip off 20 yards and go from there?

Also, what about leaders that have never been fished but have gotten wet with saltwater (and then rinsed off) a few times?

Thanks!

I'm cheap, so I like to take it off and reverse it, that way the old stuff is inside and the new is on top. That way i get two years out of it. If it's over two years old, replace it.
If the leaders are two years old, I'd replace them too.
I fish, therefore I Cuss and Lie!

i am planning to replace my line this year. 3 years and i was kinda worried with the "fuzziness" i see on it.. not sure what line i used, i think 832? i will probably replace with powerpro.

as for leaders, every leader i fish gets retired, every one gets retired after 1 fish, and i retie all gear every season, but i use FIFO (first in first out) method for tackle, so i usually don't have season old rigs.

Yeah, my line is definitely a few years old and I have some new PowerPro that's not doing any good in the box. Might swap out today.
Thanks!

I never use mono backing and always fill my reels with as much braid as I can fit so lots of line to work with.  I've done both the strip off method, and the re-spool to another reel and both worked well for me for about three seasons of good use.  I used to always retie my topshots and terminal tackle before every trip, but have gotten lazier and adapted the "that's my lucky knot" philosophy as long as there isn't any fray.
