When you are mounting a transducer (down and side scan) in the alcove / space (not sure the right name here) on the underside of the kayak how much do you recess it from the face of the hull?  I’m thinking you want the hill proud of the transducer to help keep it from scraping and banging into stuff but not sure how far is ok before it starts interfering with the signal.

Exact directions impossible without info on kayak model and FF brand/model/transducer type.  Most MFRs have a mounting system that work with their boats.  And, most installs take a bit of fiddling.

rule of thumb is get the transducer tight as possible up against the hull.  and yes recessed so it doesn't 'scrape' is best.

If you have the yak and the FF, post some pics of your progress here you will get plenty of advice. Some of it will even be good advice!
