AOTY April Wrap Up.

The fourth month of AOTY has come and gone, we are one third of the way done! The weather has been windy, but there have been good days to get out mixed in there. The ocean is now open up and down the coast and the fishing is only going to get better! I know I’m a few days late with this report so there are a few fish entered that technically don’t fit into March, but math is hard.

Let’s take a look at how AOTY is going!.

81 anglers signed up for AOTY so far.

9 anglers signed up for Youth AOTY.

84 fish scored by 28 anglers (up from 54 fish scored by 23 anglers.) Not counting duplicates

ROCKFISH: scottymeboy entered a nice 20.25 verm for the biggest so far

CABEZON: scottymeboy also entered a very nice 22.75 inch cab for the biggest so far

SALMON: KPD has the largest at 33.75 from a paddle kayak no less. Way to get it done!

HALIBUT: Corey has bumped JewliOn with a 32.75.

LINGCOD: Lingking707 has a 33.0 entered as current top ling.

TROUT: MarkL is still on top with a 21.0 rainbow

SMALLMOUTH/SPOTTED BASS: Gator still on top with a great 20.5 spotted bass.

LARGEMOUTH BASS: Sam_Elliott still has the big one at 23.5

STRIPED BASS: Some guy named Threemoneyj  has a 24.25 striper.

SURF PERCH: Ghost still on top at 12.25”

FLATFISH: KPD still on tip at 11.25”

PANFISH: Snazzyshun still on top at 15.5. That’s a very big crappie!

CATFISH: That Threemoneyj guy has the only one entered at 29.5.

KOKANEE: Corey is on top of the Kokanee board with a 17.25 huge kokanee

Missing Fish: Sturgeon, Greenling, White Sea Bass, Steelhead, Lake Trout, Pacific halibut, and Brown trout. A few of those are difficult to target, but I’m hoping some show up in the future.

Great job to those who got out and entered some fish! I’ve seen some reports and fish pictures that haven’t showed up in AOTY. Hopefully those of you who have yet to sign up will do so! It is still wide open right now with plenty of time to get involved!

You could probably hit any number of lakes and cross off the two bass, a panfish, a catfish and a trout in one trip. Mix in a productive salt bottom fishing outing for a rockfish, lingcod, cab, greenling and possibly a flatfish, halibut or perch mixed in. Boom, 2 trips and 10 fish you are up on top!

It is a great way to get more involved with kayak fishing and learn to catch new species.

Some of us have been _trying_ to score all those species every trip but not getting the job done  :smt005  April was not a good month for me at all, but I'm gonna be putting in some serious effort for May!  Congrats on being first to ten as well man, well done!  :smt006

This may end up being the most interesting part of the competition
