Hi all. This is going to be my first year out on the ocean in a kayak and I'm really looking forward to getting some squid. When does that season usually start? I googled around and it said it can start in April, but I haven't heard anyone talking about it. Once squid show up, do they hang around all the time? Or do you have to rush out and get on them when they show up like a herring run? TIA

I got a lot of squid last year in the summer time. I believe that’s the best time for them. Just look for tiny dots on fish finder and put a squid jig down. If the squid boats are out they are usually there. I think it’s a little early right now. They usually hang around longer than herring.
