AOTY March Wrap Up.

The third month of AOTY has come and gone. Spring is here, the weather is warming up, and the fishing is good! I know I’m a few days late with this report so there are a few ocean fish entered that technically don’t fit into March, but math is hard.

Let’s take a look at how AOTY is going!.

81 anglers signed up for AOTY so far.

9 anglers signed up for Youth AOTY.

54 fish scores entered by 23 anglers. Nobody has entered their full 10 fish yet.

Halibut: JewliOn has a 30.0 entered and is sitting on top. He’s still on top since February

Lingcod: tedski has a 24.25 entered and is currently on top.

Trout: MarkL is still on top with a 21.0 rainbow

Smallmouth/Spotted Bass: Corey has been passed by Gator with a great 20.5 spotted bass.

Largemouth: Sam_Elliott entered a big one at 23.5

Striped Bass: Some guy named Threemoneyj passed alshobieoutback with a 24.25 striper

Surf Perch: Ghost still on top at 12.25”

Flatfish: KPD still on tip at 11.25”

Panfish: Snazzyshun still on top at 15.5. tommcdo got close with a 15.25. Both are very big crappie!

Catfish: That Threemoneyj guy has the only one entered at 29.5. It goes to 30.5, but he sucks at pictures

Kokanee: Corey is on top of the Kokanee board with a 14.0

Missing Fish: Rockfish, Cabezon, Salmon, Sturgeon, Greenling, White Sea Bass, Steelhead, Lake Trout, Pacific halibut, and Brown trout. Plenty of time to catch some of those still.

Great job to those who got out and entered some fish! I’ve seen some reports and fish pictures that haven’t showed up in AOTY. Hopefully those of you who have yet to sign up will do so! Its still wide open right now with plenty of time to get involved!

You could probably hit any number of lakes and cross off the two bass, a panfish, a catfish and a trout in one trip. Mix in a productive salt bottom fishing outing for a rockfish, lingcod, cab and possibly a flatfish, halibut or perch mixed in. Boom, 2 trips and 10 fish you are in first place!

If you are interested in taking part in 2022 look here http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=97376.0

It is a great way to get more involved with kayak fishing and learn to catch new species.

Thanks for the monthly recap, John! Loving the fun, friendly, and enriching competition. It's getting me on new water, learning new things, catching new species, and most importantly--hanging out and fishing with great people!

Thanks for the March update. Makes me want to call in sick tomorrow. I missed that quality spotted bass that went up this week, solid fish! And I'm slow to post my fish like usual, so one more from March will be up soon and it's a PB Cali cutthroat for me.
