Hello all,

My name is Bren. I've been fishing from shore and from boats and am now looking into what is needed in order to fish from a kayak safely. I look forward to absorbing as much knowledge as I can, meeting some of you, and catching/harvesting/enjoying what the local waters have to offer!

Good luck to all!

Hey Bren, welcome to NCKA! You could do what I did, and take a couple of sea kayaking classes. You will learn kayak basics plus assisted, and self rescue. It will give a good idea on whether you want to continue with jumping into this endeavor. I have been having a great time. Make sure to check out the Safety First section of this site.

There are quite a few experienced kayak fishermen in Newark/Fremont area. Get the right safety gear and practice self rescue at Quarry Lakes and you'll be welcome to join us in April when the Bay & Ocean fishing turns on.

In the game of biggest fish, if you can't enjoy routinely gettin' your ass handed to you, by great fishermen, then you don't belong in the NCKA.
