I have a 2011 Adventure. Who do you Adventure Island guys get your parts from? I want to buy an entire Adventure island kit. Anyone prefer a certain online retailer or local shop?

Unless you have an emotional attachment to the current adventure, I'd purchase a used late 2011+ one (the early 2011 models did not have the shark fin rudder and I think 2011 was the year that the aka joints changed).

Recommend you calling around to different hobie dealers and ask if they can order the parts. I know cck and windtoys order some akas, pontoons, and other parts for others in the past to do conversions. They would best to tell you what kinds of delays hobie is experiencing with. Good luck!

Hobie used to sell an entire conversion kit, but that's not been available for several years. So, you (or a dealer on your behalf) would have to buy the parts individually, and I suspect the cost would be prohibitive if you buy new.

I've got a 2013 Hobie Adventure that I'd always planned to convert to an AI. I waited too long to get the conversion kit, so I've been scrounging used parts here-and-there for a couple of years. I've now got everything other than the mast (and only had to buy 1 part new, the mast receiver). So, on rare occasion, it is sometimes possible to find used parts for a decent price. However, if you go that route, it will be a long-term project.

As nudling says, you're probably better off buying used.

Just to give you an idea of prices for new parts, a single "V1" ama is $449:

https://westcoastsailing.net/hobie-adventure-island-ama-v1-replacement-dune/

That's assuming you want it in "dune" color (other colors are a bit more expensive) and does not include tax (or shipping if you order online). The aka bars are also very pricey (the front cross bar alone is $249), and there are bunch of other parts that would add significant to the cost (such as the plastic mast receiver cup that is about $99), not to mention all of the small fiddly parts that really add to the cost.

It's too bad Hobie does not sell the conversion kit anymore. When it was available, the cost of buying an Adventure and then later adding the conversion kit was essentially the same as buying the complete AI. So, in that sense, there was no real savings, but I believe it was a pretty big savings as compared to buying all of the parts individually.

Uuggggghhhhh that sucks. Thanks for the enlightenment on the subject. I guess I’ll just wait until I find a used AI.
