Saw this youtube video over the weekend where a seal attempted to grab the fish stringer but missed.  Has this happened to anyone where the seal was/wasn't successful but scared the crap out of you?  And if grabbed, did it rock or flip the boat?

Not up here personally have I had anything like that happen.  Down in SoCal I have seen several videos like that.

Hungarian Stallion had a tail hanging out of his fish bag coming in at Morro and it got da business by a sea lion.  He was super bummed, think it was a 25lber for sure...

Near the mile buoy in Santa Cruz I had one try to jump over the rear aka bar on my AI. It only made it half way over and was flopping around about 18 inches from my head for several seconds. Luckily it was a fairly small one, or it would have done some serious damage (to the kayak and/or me).

Yes I lost two halibut this year to seals at ARW.  Both times while bleeding them in the water on the stringer while I continued fishing. Once was on my paddle board when I felt an unusual wobble/rocking from rear of the  board and when I turned the seal was splashing and diving straight down. We had a bit of tug a war but it won and disappeared with the halibut. Then the other time was on my Revo and it was just a quick jerk/bump/tug and the fish was gone. No flipping yaks just flipping fingers.  :smt044  :smt013

Saw a sea lion bite my buddy's lobster bag on his hip while we were free diving once. It was kind of funny seeing a grown man try to scare a sea lion off by splashing at it.

In Half Moon Bay by the red can, I had a good size sea lion fly out of the water just to my left with no warning and it landed across the kayak in front of me at an angle by my feet/drive. It was hanging over both sides of the yak, and I was thankful that its head was farther from me than the ass end. I feebly kicked it a little and it flopped over the right side. It was a moment of fear, but it was over quickly. Made me feel even better about the stability of my water sled.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.
