I've been trying to get some extra rod sticks for plastic welding for 2019 Mirage Oasis - Seagrass Green but few locations in Sacramento, they either don't carry spare rod sticks or closed for the season.  Does anyone have an experience with fixing your kayak (e.g. plastic welding) to know enough if any plastic will work or does i have to be certain type of plastic? I actually have my kids' sand toys which they have outgrown, almost matching the color of my kayak.   :smt005

I have used these with good success.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VMGO1P6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Although I could have sworn I've seen a video before of someone using a folgers coffee tub also for repairing their kayak, so that could be a possible desperation move

You can use any plastic made of the same thing. My old town is HDPE so I was able to use an old container that was marked HDPE. Some kayaks are LDPE or LLHDPE, I believe. So you can match to what ever type the Hobie is. Or order the correct type. I’m not sure if there is any compatibility between the different plastic types.

If you have any doubt as to the type of plastic on your Oasis, you could call Hobie. In my experience they are pretty good about answering technical questions.

You could also post a question on the Hobie forum and somebody there could probably advise on plastic that has worked.
