South Swell and wind are due to comed up Friday and last thru the weekend into Monday, but since it'll be about the same Mon as Sun, I'll look Sunday and let you know then if I can go, I'll try to report it either way so you'll know.
Prospect and 47th  and 49th Aves  are where you can park free if you get there early. Keep in mind that these are on a bluff above RR tracks, so tho you can walk down, and I suppose carry a small yak, you'll have to go west and double back east to get down to East Cliff. Otherwise, you have to feed the meters along East Cliff and I think they have a 4 hr limit.  The ramp is on the West side of the wharf, steep dirt, soft sand. Very tight lot there, no parking except to unload, you need to approach from other than the west to make the entrance to it, and it gets real busy at landing time.

I'm still looking for the hot spots, but I see a lot of boats around the buoy straight out from the launch, along the outside of the kelp for a mile or two toward SC, and near the kelp to the east of the wharf, as well as out about a mile and a half SE of the wharf where there is a reef (raised flat area).  Bring your trout pole and fight the mighty macs!

http://www.surfline.com/reports/report.cfm?id=10763

This cam is at the Esplanade, which is about 1/4 mile to the east of the wharf, and which is the surfing spot in the general area, so what you are looking at (and it's hard to see in the mist) is higher than the surf at the launch site.  I'll make a run down there tomorrow morning to see how it is.  It didn't look bad yesterday afternoon, but that was at high tide. The text in these reports makes it sound like there isn't as much surf as expected, tho it's more than we've had for a month or so.

Dagnabit!  This is the exact trip I was looking to make in my yak next time out.  Unfortunately, I just burned my kitchen pass Saturday with an all day outing to Moss :smt009  I'm off all week, so if you are going out again this week, Insane, let me know.

I'm really kicking myself for not going out this morning  :smt011  I had a stop in Oakland around 11AM, and the entire bay was glass smooth...
