Quite sad. We have a first hand look into what's happening and it doesn't look good for the near future.

It does not look good, I agree. My take on this year’s salmon run: I think they were bigger because they had less competition for resources but there were far less.  The first time I went out on a PB from Bodega on a six pack, we left the dock at 7 and had limits by 9. They were good fish, but not 30 lbs. This year we went out and fished dux fir 5 hrs with nothing to show and then hit the channel marker outside SF bay where we started to hook up. Most fish were over 25lbs. We only landed four and it was hard fishing. This was with one of the most experienced salmon charters in SF. Something drastic needs to be done to save these awesome fish.

Sad. I’ve read that Washington state had similar problems but they were able to do better.

On the brighter side all the antidepressants and chemo drugs in the rivers are keeping the salmon happy and cancer free until they belly up in the warm waters.
