Surf launches are exhilarating. Really enjoyed watching this video, I don't have video of any of my surf launch oopsies (or successes).

I noticed you weren't peddling in the seconds leading up to that wave... Back when I did surf launches it was with a paddle SOT; my approach when paddling into a wave that was close to breaking was to gain as much momentum as possible. Do peddle folks do it differently?

Also, you were perpendicular to that wave, yeah? Almost looks like you weren't but that could easily be a feature of the camera.

Peddle as hard as you can and as perpendicular to the wave as you can.

Here’s another option…Muir Beach.  Every spot has pros and cons. Muir beach is in a small cove that is usually protected on the north side. It is a beach launch but the waves are smaller and will get you out on the Marin coast. The drawback is that you have to wheel your kayak from the parking area a good ways along a trail and across the beach. Therefore, you must have good beach wheels, especially with a heavy PA. I am thinking about heading there tomorrow for chrome. PM me if you want to meet up. The gate opens at 7. Same goes for others wanting to meet up tomorrow (9/3).

Thanks for the Muir suggestion! I will give that one a try and will post here for running partners the day before.
