Just picked up a 2013 Outback. The first time I took it out (Monterey Bay), I noticed that water was entering through the Mirage Drive hole to about an inch below the yellow sticker. There doesn't appear to be water in the hull though. Is this just a case of the kayak sitting low in the water on account I'm 230 lbs?

So the question is....Is the water intrusion I'm seeing to be expected given my girth or should I be looking for some other issue?

Thanks everyone! I've learned so much from the forum already, I hope you can help me with this issue.

Dave

Totally normal for a Hobie to have some water displaced through the drive well. I love to use it as a mini live well at times  :smt044 Welcome to the club!  :smt006

Thanks AlsHobieOutback!

Glad to hear I don't have a mechanical problem AND that I don't have to go on a diet to keep fishing!

Hah, yeah your weight is fine for an Outback.  I'm a bit heavier than you, and works fine for me.  I think it's rated at 400lbs, but dont quote me on that.   Here is a quick pic of my AI "livewell" in action  :smt044

You might want to drill a hole in it to let the water out.
