REPORT: I met Loebs at 6am where he was setting up and making small talk with a new NCKA member. We decided to troll for salmon out to Pedro and fish for RF if there were no signs of salmon. As we were on our way the south wind began to pick up halfway there and it was still early. We were suddenly surrounded by wind chop and swells. If I were by myself I would have turned around in that instance but sometimes… the wind lays down in the morning.  Besides, Loebs wanted finish the run to Pedro so we pulled out lines and made a b line kayaking for shelter near big Pedro since fishing was uncomfortable by this time. We got there with still little signs of salmon so we dropped in and started to engage in RF.  The wind did after all start to calm down.  I kept a few decent sized ones and even landed my first keeper cabezon. I also lost a big Lingcod (+-30”)which broke my line because I was not ready for a turbo run. I headed in earlier so Loebs will have to pick up from where I left off.

The videos currently in my stories on IG @ idlefishing

Thanks. I kept thinking back to when you told me how you got good ones under shallow rocks there!

I ended up getting a rockfish limit and got a bunch more smalls. Almost got a ling cod but mine also broke off at the knot when it made a run at the boat. Sometimes those simple clinch knots bite you in the ass. Also got an undersized 20 inch ling. The launch and landing were relatively easy compared to my last adventure at bolinas. The waves and chop were off and on throughout the day nothing too huge but not for the novice. Really wanted the salmon but didn’t work out with no bait, birds or signs of salmon. Fished with Yao in the morning and then met Jun the YouTube star and finished the afternoon fishing close to him. Overall a nice day on the water.
