Hi All
I am looking for a shortcut to reading every online review.  Which VHF radio do you reccommend? I am on a budget here so I am no looking to spen much more than $100. Seems there are a lot of models in that range. Any radios to stay away from. Should it be floating/submersible etc..  Make and model# please.  Looks like boaters world has some deals.   By the way could be a killer weekend with light winds and warm temps. I may try for an inshore practice session.  Paddling and flipping the boat/re-entry etc..
Thanks
Lee

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Try and get a good model. I know price is a concern but this isn't an area to go cheap on. Spend $10-20 bucks less on each rod/reel and put that money toward a good quality radio (and PFD for that matter). My first one was a cobra and despite being 'waterproof' if failed on the water when it got 'damp.' When I got home and concluded it was a gonner I ripped it open and all the insides were rusted. Scary if I really needed it on the water. I just spent a few bucks more and got the standard horizions HS 600S. That model is on sale at most places now for $100. Trust me if you go cheap-o it will not last and your just buy a better model and learn your lesson.

Thank you

Just ordered the Standard Horizon HX 600S  $76 at Boaters Worls. About $7 for shipping. Another thing crossed off the list

Hope you like it. The AM/FM function is nice when your alone. The aviation band is cool when you are near an airport.

What kind of music do the halibut prefer while dinning.

Sir Mix-A-Lot, of course!

(I like big butts and I can not lie...)

Eww. Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Thanks for the suggestions Mike and EWB. Gonna need to pick up a radio for my GF sooner or later.

Good choice to go with Standard Horizon - best to stick with tried & true when it comes to this kind of equipment. Leash it to your pfd when you get it - non-floating models (most) sink like stones...
