I launched at 10:00am. First launch ever!  I headed out about forty yards and immediately see bait boiling all around.  I drop my sabiki and catch many bait.  Didn't bring my bait bucket though :smt012 .  I put a fresh chovie on and drifted around catching bait and fearing my first landing.  Held some bait in my yak by the water at my feet and move to thirty feet of water and slow trolled live chovie. Got hit once, it was a salmon as teeth marks were evident.

I headed back in after 1 1/2  hours that seemed to fly by.  One note was that a giant ball of bait was about 1 mile off shore. Too far for me to venture alone.  Probably 100 yards by 100 yards.

I landed nicely as the swells were predictable.

Depending on the pattern of teethmarks (and how many rows), it could have been almost anything at Linda Mar! :smt002  I went out southwest of San Pedro rock after one of those bait balls yesterday and brought home as much salmon as you, so might as well stay in the bay... Possibly the only reason to venture further is that later you may avoid bycatch (kingfish, etc. - but also the occasional trolled halibut).

It could have been anything but I was just hoping that it was Salmon.   :smt003 I did mark some good sized fish on the finder but few and far between.  Got the hit trolling so I figure it wasn't a tom cod or king fish.

At one point I was getting marks on the finder about 20 feet deep on the bottom by the south end of the bay.  I let the chovie hit bottom but nada.

I said anything because there are no shark emoticons. I have no doubt it was a salmon. They're the best at not getting hooked!
