I haven't fished in my kayak for several months and decided to go out with the amazing conditions yesterday.

Loaded the yak up on Monday night (around 7pm) and headed to the fishing grounds on Tuesday. Fished all day (easily 12 hours) then headed back to shore around 8 pm. Opened the hatch and there was a freaking kitten sleeping on my dry bag/Jacket! Scared the shit out of me when it woke up and ran to the back of my kayak. Immediately closed hatch and took kayak/kitten home.  Sure enough when I got home there was a mama cat pissed off at me! Freaking neighborhood cats :smt044 Kitten was released unharmed and now has a story to tell.

Goodtimes :smt006

Anybody else have stories of weird finds in hatches?

In June I did a four-day float on the John Day River in Oregon with my sister.  I paddled my Revolution, and she paddled my 13' Ocean Kayak Trident.  After the trip, I discovered that she had picked up a stowaway in the Trident at some point during the trip.

Cute story of the year haha.  Better than finding ants eating your old bait inside your hatch.  I hate ants...  But that squid smelled pretty bad as well.  :smt005

I now make sure to keep my in-hull rod holders closed off. Mice crawl in and can't get out until you find their horrible remains on the butt end of the rod you just pulled out to use. Lesson learned.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I had an officer check inside my hull after I showed him my limit of dungees, I was like, I would never let a crab get in there I would never get it out!
