Hello NorCal kayak anglers,

I recently got a job in Ketchikan, Alaska working on the commercial fishing boat Lea, trolling for King and Coho Salmon. While we haven’t left the harbor yet, I thought I’d make this post to let y’all know that we will be selling our catch of salmon and potentially some Halibut and Black Cod as well. For anyone interested we do single orders shipped to your door with a minimum of 10lbs per order as this is a small business operation. To make an order email Rob Bateman at blueseafoodsllc@gmail.com.

Hope to hear from some of y’all,

Jackson (TheChungusAmongUs)

Noble offer, hope you make some bucks, what an experience.  Side note and I cannot speak for everyone, but my guess is kayak fisherman only buy fish as a last resort when the wife says uhhhh...have you caught anything lately?  Errrr uhhhh, I’ll be right back, are you tired of skunk burgers my love? :smt005 :smt006

Thanks for the feedback Eddie. I kinda figured this wouldn’t get much or any sales but why not? Tight lines!

I bet Eddie's on point for the most part, but I'll speak up as one of the anomalies.  I buy fish because I feel it's important to support small and local commercial gals and guys.  Personally, I do so by subscribing to Seaforager, a Community Supported Fishery run by Camilla and Kurt Lombard.  It's not cheap, but it's money well spent to support sustainable and local fisherfolks.  Sometimes our harvests overlap... I bring home a halibut and halibut is on deck with Seaforager that week.  I don't consider that a problem, though.

Congrats on the AK seafarer pursuit. Hard slanging and banging big fish... protein powder/glucosamine/chondroitin/double cheeseburgers/creatine/super burritos?  :smt106

The fish is not flash frozen on the boat unfortunately but is flash frozen as soon as we offload it. Black Cod probably won’t be in until later August and we’d target them between the King Salmon openers.

I agree, I think the black cod is the hot item.  Thanks for letting us know.  When the black cod is on the radar, let us know, I am interested.

Well now, Sablefish recipes are certainly prized.  Love that caramel glazing...
