Changed my vacation plans from Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho, too the Eastern Sierra.  Just did not want to drive that far.  Getting old.  Taking the boat and the kayaks for a couple weeks.  Figure boat and Kayak .Crowley and kayak Lake Mary and .twin Lakes Mammoth.  Figure base out of Crowley Lake RV park, maybe wade fish the Owens below Pleasant Valley dam.  Any tips or suggestions?  Convict Lake?

Convict is beautiful, campground is short walk to the lake--kinda scrubby, but some sites get shade. Plenty of fish in the lake, but it's a truck-to-table fishery. Baits that look like hatchery food seem to do well  :smt005--garlic powerbait etc.

Nearby, Lee Vining creek is on the way up to Mono, and the June Lakes are pretty too--there's a nice put in on the south end of Silver Lake--short carry or cart from the parking lot down to the water. Also a more-proper boat launch up by the campground. I didn't catch anything there last fall, but saw fish rising. I think it was victim of the hatchery die off last summer, like so many others around there.
