Eel fly in action

I saw Die Hard catching eels to target lingcods.  I thought to myself, why not make an eel fly pattern.  Here's a link of it in action.

This fly is pretty big, about 8 inches long.  It's hard to tell since there's nothing to compare the size to.  As for rigging a shrimp fly style, you just tie a shrimp fly about this fly.  My inflatable pool is not deep enough to show a full shrimp fly style rigging.  Here's a closer look at the fly.

Me too.  I just recently got surgery, can't go fishing until 4 more weeks later.  That's why I'm spending my weekends making lures.

I wonder if it's possible to add a trailer/stinger hook without messing up the action? Maybe snell the trailer hook on 50# braid and tie to the shank of the lead hook? Mono would be too stiff....

It's surprising how much that tail moves around.  Very life-like.  Nice work!

Thanks Tinker.  One other advantages to this fly is that it can hold a lot of scent.  I usually just put a tad of procure on it.  It last quite a long time.  The stink gets into the fiber.
