I will be looking at an ocean kayak frenzy or a prowler 15.

i have a small car so i need to make sure i can travel with it after i buy it.

i plan on renting a storage space with a dock about 100 ft.

what are your thoughts on the two choices and why.

thanks much

rams,

IMO: that really depends on your skill level on a kayak and how comfortable you are on the water. We have a member (Tim / Mr. Magoo) who paddles a really short surf kayak....and he fishes from it as well (mostly for rockfishing). His skill and comfort level on that particular kayak is unquestionable.

I would personally go with a longer kayak cause that's what I've been paddling for a long time and I'm confident and comfortable with it.

thanks for the response.

the frenzy is approx 260 new. (it's blemished) and hte prowler is approx 580 (it's blemished)

i'm relatively new to kayaking.

i would use it for crusing around the harbor plus once in a while fishing.

if i get a tandem, can i solo pilot it?

IMO: The Prowler would be a better choice - can't really go wrong with that particular kayak :smt002.

There are several tandems that can convert to a single, but those kayaks tend to be wider and heavier and less ideal for touring.

 Hi sframs13:

The Frenzy is OK for places that are protected like VanDamm or Albion river. Limited range is about 2 Miles round trip. They don't track well and don't have much deck space for fish. I hate lap dances from RF, Lings and Halibut.
I feel the  Scramble XT (Slow but Stable), Scupper Pro TW (Fast but Tippy), Prowler 13, Prowler 15 and a Trident in that order. I don't think the Frenzy would be you last Yak if you become very active kayak fishing. I just my spin and buying a Yak is like buying shoes.
A tandem is like a log. They have a lot of deck space and Polepole has one that works very well for him. If you plan on fishing close with Yakers that have faster Yaks, they will leave you in their wake!
take all advice with a grain of salt.
I was not here and I didn't post this opinion
